Jean was a freelance writer and photographer who specialized in dogs and gardens. She graduated from Purdue University with a degree that had nothing to do with writing or photography. With her husband Terry she moved to Virginia in 1979 and started a tree nursery. She had always enjoyed photography as hobby and when she switched to slide film, she began to sell photo essays to gardening magazines. She found writing to be a good way to package her images. When her oldest son Kevin left for college, she got a JRT puppy named Molly and started photographing dogs and writing for dog magazines. Her work has frequently appeared in Browntrout, Willow Creek Press, Reiman Publication and Petprints calendars. Her articles have been in Woman’s Day, Woman’s Day Special Interest Publications, Dog Fancy, Popular Dogs, Hobby Farms, Hobby Farm Home, Urban Farms and many other national magazines. She was a member of the Dog Writers Association of America and Garden Writers Association of America.
In 2011 Jean M Fogle passed away after a battle with cancer and her son Kevin Fogle took over the family business as a legacy to her art. Kevin continues to photograph and write about dogs, gardens, and everything food-related.
